First of all, self-love is not narcissism. Narcissists elevate self-love to a whole new level which is more unhealthy. The right kind of self-love is achieved when we know our worth in whatever situation we encounter. If you’re not sure about how much you love yourself exactly, you can practice these steps:

1. Affirmation

Speak kindly to yourself, and not just to others. Tell yourself that you are strong; tell yourself that you are a positive person. Whatever affirmation you prefer, the gist is for you to tell yourself your strengths and not beat yourself over your weaknesses. If you do this step often, your thoughts will follow, and so will your actions.

2. Practice Self-Love

How do you love yourself through actions? It’s simple. Prepare healthy meals for yourself, organize your work space, visit the doctor or dentist, or even get a haircut. All of these things are beneficial to you. This way, you show yourself that you are important.

3. Don’t Deprive Yourself

Step three has more to do with material things. Most of the time, we don’t really buy nice things for ourselves because we may think that doing so is a waste of money. This doesn’t mean that you have to buy anything and everything. Find a balance and focus more on buying things that bring you positive energy. It could be as simple as a bag, or a pair of shoes. The bottom line is that you have to reward yourself from time to time.

4. Be Present

Amidst our busy lives, we usually operate with our default mundane tasks in mind. We won’t always be present, mentally, whenever we do tasks like these. So, what you can do is involve yourself in activities where you can practice mindfulness – yoga, new hobbies, exercise, and etc.

Practice these four steps of achieving self-love. They will guarantee that you love yourself enough.
